The booklet contains excerpts from Twining's classic book
THE ART AND CRAFT OF STAINED GLASS, originally published in London in 1928 by Sir Isaac Pitman & Sons, Ltd.

This 50th anniversary reprint of the Painting and Firing chapters of this renowned manual covers many topics such as brushes, mullers, composition of enamel pigments, grinding paints, tracing and matt work, stippling, scrub and needle highlighting.

The section on kilnwork, although dated (electric kilns were a rarity in 1928), still contains many useful hints on the proper loading and firing of kilns. How to recognize a complete firing, common problems and their remedies are also covered in detail.

Extra interest is added by reproductions of several advertisements from the original edition.

This reprint edition was published in 1978 by Fledgling Studio in the USA.

Paperbound, 60 pages, 23 illustrations (b/w), 1 full-colour cover plate.
