Sam and Elizabeth entered exhibits in the DACA annual competition for many years until they decided to bow out and leave the field clear for other enthusiasts in the County - having won over 10 gold awards throughout the period as well as many other certificates of merit.
To encourage more participation by their students, customers and other Dorset enthusiasts they donated in 1999 a special Glass Trophy for the Stained Glass Section which Elizabeth has engraved with the DACA logo (formerly the DCACA).
The first winner was Stan Patterson with an unusually shaped ceiling uplighter that contained hundreds of small pieces of glass. This shade was his first complicated "Tiffany" style lampshade. |
