We were called in to effect the restoration work at St Saviour's church in 1996 after they had suffered vandalism. As well as repairing several ordinary leaded light windows around the church this also entailed removing several sections of the large East window, selecting glass to match the broken pieces, painting and staining to the original design and then remaking the damaged sections and re-fitting the windows
These photos show some of the damaged sections on the day we were asked to quote for restoration. By the time we were able to start work, most of the broken pieces of glass of the section shown in the top photo were missing, with only Child's left arm still visible so the missing details had to be carefully reconstructed from our own photographic records and sketches. |
